Preventing Teen Pregnancy - Abstinence
US teenagers have the highest pregnancy rate in the industrialized world. This program will provide
appropriate skills, insights, values, personal tools, peer support and the chance to not only learn
about our bodies and reproductive systems, but also learn how to resist sexual pressures from the
media and peers and enhance their individual sexual decision making abilities.  An Abstinent
Commitment ceremony will follow after all lessons are completed.
Media Literacy
This program will help girls develop the skills to distinguish between the positive and the negative
aspects of the media messages that are constantly being pushed on them. It will allow the girls to
evaluate the messages in media and recognize the stereotypes and differentiate between those
stereotypes and their lives. The girls will also have an opportunity to learn the behind the scenes
requirements for techniques of various media creations and they will be given an opportunity to
produce their own shows and create a monthly newsletter.
Peer Pressure
This program will focus on peer pressure, body image, media, drug and alcohol abuse, the dangers of
smoking and stress. It will help the girls to recognize the effects of their decision and the
consequences that will be suffered because of those decisions. We will provide them with some
realistic examples and ways to alleviate some of the burdens that they experience and advocate for
themselves.
Economic Empowerment
This program will empower the girls with the financial sense in order to be smart, savvy young ladies.
It will give them the steps toward financial success as well as how to manage their monies and
investing in stocks, bonds, mutual funds and early retirement. We also have an entrepreneur program
that will teach them the basics to owning their own business and the mentality that must be possessed
to be successful in corporate America. The classes will begin in January 2004 and will be held at the
Keys To Achieve Foundation center.
Women of Excellence Division
This program will be geared towards our matured young ladies that are ready to impact nations. This
section will focus on developing the leader within - the character and the unwavering integrity that
exists in all of us. This will be a culmination of all that the girls have experienced in KTA with a specific
focus on corporate and personal training in the areas of public speaking, communication and
presentation skills. KTA will be working with some of our corporate sponsors to start an internship
program that will allow the young women in our excellence division to intern with them during the
summer. We have established several stipulations that must be met before graduating into this
program.
